I just saw a knife on ebay called an Imperial Damascus Tanto. It is serial numbered 0091 of 1000. I am interested in it. Does anyone know anything about these knives?

Did`nt know they were still in production (they came out around 10 yrs. ago, IIRC)....interesting-looking piece, but expensive for a production knife with so-so credentials....do a Google search for more info.

They aren't in production anymore. It was supposed to be a run of 2,000, and they cut it off at 1,000. The manufacturing cost was too costly and they were losing money. They have brought $2,000 plus at auctions. That one on eBay has been on there for like 4 months. I checked into it to have a mate for mine. I have an CS Imperial Tai Pan in Damascus in my collection, an even rarer knife (only 500 made). They are gorgeous knives, and it would be kinda cool to own both.

I think the tanto you are thinking about was sold already. It was serial numbered in the 600s. The one I am looking at has just been listed yesterday and is numbered 91.

You're right that is new, I'm sorry. I should have checked before I shot off at the keyboard. There was one that was part of a collection that was unsold (the last I knew anyway)for at least three 30 day auctions. I kept watching it to see if the price would drop and even emailed him. He wasn't budging from the $1,399 (I think) listing price. This new auction says it sold, but it isn't in completed sales that I can find. Sorry again, I stand corrected.
