Cold Steel discontinued - UWK,Kobun ect...???

Knives are generally discontinued when sales fall below a certain level, and the company decides that segment of the market is saturated.

Really? Does their continued existence somehow interfere with your joy in life? Does every disagreement have to end in bitterness and discourtesy? I have quite a few of their knives but because of my unhappiness with the owner's recent behavior, I find myself reluctant to add to them. I don't need to enlist others, though, to feel justified in my own decision.

Lets keep discussions in this forum to the knives themselves.

o bad cold steel doesn't discontinue their existence as a company.

Does their continued existence somehow interfere with your joy in life?

Please let me answer for Severedthumbs. No way, man, and miss the numerous threads here that would cease to exist should Cold Steel close up shop? The countless, humorous threads alone should be reason enough for us to want Cold Steel to stay in business!:p

Sorry, Esav, I just had to.;)

As far as OP's concerns about Cold Steel discontinuing a few knives, they did appear to add a lot more than they discontinued, if you saw the catalog.

I wanted to get the oda back when they were carbonV but I never got the chance. I dont know why there always has to be someone bashing cold steel on every thread about them. I really dont care for William Henry knives so based on that should they fold up and go home the only SOG I have is from the mid 80's and they dont seem to have anything else I want so away with them too and since Benchmade has been rude to New Graham death to them too. All the people that work there can just go collect welfare or something who cares. You dont like Cold Steel thats your right but over the years I've got alot of good knives from them starting with my first SRK, then a Warhead (old style) and one of the huge twistlocks and a few machetes heck I've even got a couple shamboks and a few bushmans not to mention my new favorite cheap fixed blades the canadian belt knife, finn bear and roach belly and the kudu that sliced the hell out of me. Yes thier ad's are alot hype but if I remember correctly and I do cause I still have the magazines Busse useta run some of the same type of ad's back in the day. Dont worry about the knives getting discontinued they may just be changeing the blade steel to something better later.

(emphasis mine) Thank You!

I like some of their products, but I don't care for LT or his antics. I don't bother even reading most of the Cold Steel threads any more because of the flame wars that get started. This one might be a record - the CS bashing started at the second post!

thx - cpr

Yep. The ODA, UWK and both Peace Keepers appear to be missing in action from the lineup in the latest catalog and price list at Never Unarmed. If you're a fan of any of these, I suggest picking up a couple of each at the places still carrying them.

They're still using 4116 on the kitchen knives (except the K-Series), the Finn Bear, Canadian Belt Knife, Roach Belly, Finn Wolf, and Kudu, as well as on the new Folding Bushman, Western Hunter, and Long Hunter. The OSS will still be around, only in AUS-8, which, as Esav noted, isn't a bad thing at all.
