Cold Steel DLC

I picked up a recon 1 and noticed the DLC is a little splotchy compared to the Kershaws and Spydercos I've owned as I've tried to show in this pic. Is this typical and is there a reason it's like this? This is after I tried cleaning it and oiling it as well.

Have you tried something like flitz?

Try cleaning with a dab of BreakFree CLP; that seems to work well on my American Lawman in CTS-XHP with DLC coating.

I just tried barkeepers friend and it worked great. First I tried washing with dish soap, then a magic eraser, then oiling with mineral oil but those things didn't make a difference. But it's a beautiful shiny blade now. Thanks!
