I'm thinking of acquiring one for myself, and am wondering who of you all have owned one. If so, what did you think about it? Pros and cons and such would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's a big knife. Really big. I wouldn't carry one EDC, but that's just me. Fit and finish is quite good. I don't have any prejudice against Cold Steel, and I own quite a few of their knives. I think the big question is 'how will you use it?' Personally, I bought mine as a collector because I think it looks cool.

I like mine but stays in the drawer. It's big, and it looks sufficiently nasty that EDC is entirely out of the question.

It is mostly for admiration and showing off to people who like pointy things.

I have an XL Espada on order. I plan to carry it at times. It won't be every day, but it will be in my rotation of EDC knives. Sure, it's big, but big doesn't mean scary, just impressive. :D

Used to own one, traded it because I never carried it. I am a fan of large folders but this one was too big for me to carry comfortably. It's not even the length so much but the width... Getting some funny connotations here... :D
Seriously though: the knife is very wide when closed. I love the model though, sometimes I regret having got rid of it.

I had one and carried it for several months every day. It is a very well made knife. My only complaint is the blade was too thin for its length but this is only my opinion.

I think its a pretty nice looking knife. I wouldnt mind having one for myself. I think the only thing stopping me right now is the cost

The slick G-10 means that I can't carry it clipped into my pocket, no grip, so both the clip and the wave function are useless. But I do carry it in a dedicated pocket in my vest allowing easy and quick access. I haven't cut anything with it but I think it's a great folding Bowie.

Wish I had a pocket big enough for my XL!!!

Get one. The more "budget" all G10 Espada line is also cool if you don't mind bead blast.

I have one of the G10 versions.

I tend to carry it in the Winter in a coat pocket as a self-defense knife.

I haven't really used it for EDC purposes though, as I use smaller knives for that.

In one respect the large Espada is a very cool knife. Its got the coolness of many lesser knives - but just lots more of it. I recommend one for the arsenal of any serious knife freak. But on the other hand, its not very practical, and probably not something you are going to carry day after day. Its big - in the way that clown shoes are big - and weights almost 10 ounces. And when that blade closes, its will chop off your fingers if you aren't on the ball. So yeah, get yourself one, but recognize that its probably more for fun than for practicality. The G10 large Espada or XL Voyagers are a little more practical for EDC, and even those are dang big.

As someone who EDCed the XL Espada G10 for a couple of weeks, before going down to a Spyderco Resilience, I can say they are big knives. The XL will fit in a jeans pocket, but not straight up and down, angled towards the front, and you won't really want to carry anything else in that pocket. The wave function works well, but you may have to give the blade a final shake to get it fully open.

From people who've talked about the slickness of the G10 on the aluminium models, I think that the G10 only version is probably better to carry in pocket.

The Large Espada, or XL Voyagers are probably the best compromise between size and utility. I've just received permission from our Police to import a 5.5" Cold Steel, so I'll probably get a Vaquero in a few weeks time. You cannot use a XL Espada for general work. It's sharp enough, but people nearby will get that "my God, it's a knife murderer," look in their eyes when you pull it out. The LE and XLV are probably still a bit big, but not quite so bad.
