Cold Steel were proud to accept Exporter of the Year at the Spirit Awards.

Business leaders, elected officials, dignitaries and members of the press met at the Bacara Resort and Spa in Goleta to honor entrepreneurs and business pioneers from Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties for the Pacific Coast Business times Annual Spirit Awards.

When receiving the award for Exporter of the Year, Cold Steel's President Lynn C Thompson said:

"The Spirit award means a lot to me and to my employees. For us this is more than just a job and Ventura is more than just our place of business, it's our home.
We always try to give something back to the community that welcomed us so warmly. Even though we have grown to be an international company in many ways we are still a local business. We're a company made up of friends who do what we love"

He went on to say:

"Our goal at Cold Steel was to make products that keep people safe. Whether it's a handy pocket knife for your daily chores, a strong dependable tool in the hands of a construction worker, a discreet self-defense option for a single mom or a rugged and reliable carry choice for a member of our military, I'm incredibly proud that my products are there for good people when they need them the most".

Congratulations guys!!

A big knife vendor (edit - not a BF vendor), says that Cold Steel knives are made in Japan, Taiwan and the U.S. Is it the U.S. component for which Cold Steel received the reward, or how exactly does that work? Thanks.

Snark.

CS received the award for the jobs and profits it brought to the US and the local economy.

Your characterization of my question as a snide remark does not make it so. I have always been under the impression that CS knives were predominately or exclusive manufactured in Asia. I own literally dozens of them. If that's not accurate, I am happy to be corrected. But I think its fair to ask how you get an award for exporting imported knives. Maybe the award was for exporting US-made blowguns, swords, death stars, etc. I don't know. It was just a benign question.

Our knives are manufactured internationally. For example, our Talwar uses Japanese Steel and American handle materials but it's assembled in Taiwan.
Our Warehouse, HQ and Shipping & Distribution center is right here in Ventura CA, the same as it always has been.
We're local guys :D

Freakshow...

I've been very happy with the welcome we have received here on Bladeforums. I don't expect everyone to love what we do, the knife community is full of opinions and it would be a much less interesting place if we all thought alike.
It's been a pleasure to talk to people here and I've enjoyed slowly becoming a member of this community over the last few months.
I'm a patient guy and I'm also still relatively new to this forum, I'm trying very hard to keep a polite tone and to try to grasp why you continue to attempt and push my buttons, but your trolling and your spiteful comments are getting very tiresome.

We're very proud of our award and we are very proud of being acknowledged by our community (as well as the dignitaries that attended the event).
We are not only an international company but we are also most definitely a proud local business. We do a lot of things to try and give something back to the community that welcomed us so warmly all those years ago.
Ventura is our home and it has been for a long time.

No doubt you are well aware that there were many different categories in the Spirit awards, from exporter of the year to minority owned business of the year. Winners come from different backgrounds and businesses from all over the Tri-Counties. From local donut stores to aviation consultants.
Each of those individuals made an exceptional contribution to their community. How dare you try to belittle the achievements of any of those hard working people!

I did a little digging and discovered that you were banned repeatedly from our Cold Steel Forum for trolling and bullying. It's seems you have also been doing the same thing on our Facebook page.
I've seen some of your other comments. They are uniformly hateful, childish and frankly offensive. It's like you are spending all of your time trying to find ways to annoy, offend or upset our employees and our fans.
This seems like a tragic waste of time for a grown man.

If you have a problem, you can send me a private message right here.
Otherwise I suggest you take your negativity and your hate and go away.

Congratulations, Cold Steel :thumbup::thumbup:

I lived in Santa Barbara for a while and miss that stretch of Hwy 1 between SB and Ventura. What a great drive! Last time I did it was after the Fall Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale two years back. Hope to make it to the sale again this year.
