well it finally came the cold steel gurkha kukri sk-5, the wait was well worth it. First id like to comment how it was shipped. Covered in grease or something similar to vasaline no chance of rust. Second the sheath, for a factory sheath it is nice, coming second to esee sheaths. The edge is evenly ground all the way, and came very sharp.overall i would say the fit and finish were very nice. First thing I did was attack a piece of frozen maple just larger the an inch in diameter, clean through first try, not even full effort. My becker bk9 could not do that. After the tree incident, i was hungry, so i sliced up some ongions, i was very surprised at how well this knife did, thing even slices effortlessly. I found with the little use ive put it through, that the tip is easier to weild then the bk-9 but closer to the handel the 9 is easier. One thing that i wish was different is the handle. I believe though couldbe wrong that with prolonged use could cause hotspots/blisters. Later in the year im going to take this to the field to properly test it better. Also on a side note sk-5 rusts easily very easily, so ive already forced a patine on it. The knife should still be coated imo. I give cold steel a huge thumbs up for this knife, and fhe thought put into it, well balanced imo, feels light in the hand.
That being said, I still disagree aith there marketing techniques, and im not going to attack any dead cows or pigs in the future, this in my opinion as of now is a supurb tool, that i will gladly take with me regardless of its weight.
