How come there is no forum for these guys? I own one of their knives a Tanto and it seems to be a decent knife, does anybody else like their knives? I mean they seem to be a pretty big company and they don't have a forum it just seems weird.

Cold Steel had a forum here once. For about a minute.
They couldn't handle the volume of Q's we barraged them with and went bye-bye, IIRC. I may be wrong about their reasons for packing up, as I have a mind like a steel seive and a brain that looks like Swiss cheese.

I was not around the forum then but I have heard about some problems with Lynn Thompson and the members.

But I'm with you guys, I'd love to see them here. I'm a big fan of their folders and don't feel they get much exposure here.

I also agree that some of their marketing tactics may be a little questionable which is a complaint I see often.

Overall I think their products are a bargain and of very good quality. Of course they have some products that are POS's too.

Cold Steel had a forum here for two weeks. They chose after that period not to continue with one. The explanation we were given was that the person who was tasked with monitoring the forum became overwhelmed with it, and it took far more time than they had anticipated. So, they decided they'd like to shut it down.

Rest assured, if they decide down the road that they would again like to have a forum here on BladeForums.com, we'll be happy to have them on board.

I wish that Cold Steel would have kept their forum here. I think that there are a few reasons why Cold Steel gets a lot of complaints from knife collectors:
1- They only make a few knives that are actual collector's pieces. They have mainly stuck with basic working knives.
2- They have stuck to a certain price-point and basic materials, while a lot of other companies have gone with higher grades of blade steels and handle materials.
3- Their aggressive advertising and marketing hype really anger a lot of people. I find that their products work very well for my needs.

Yah, I remember the short-lived Cold Steel forum here (and at the other "knifeForum"). I was one of the regular posters, and it saddened me to see them give-up so soon. I hope the REKAT forum here doesn't suffer the same fate, as I have seen NO moderator presence from REKAT on their forum for quite some time now.:(.
