Can anyone recommend a way to remove the black coating from my knife? I want to do some etching on the blade. I have naval jelly and a wire wheel bench grinder. If there is a better way please let me know. I would appreciate it a lot.
 
Go to any walmart or hardware store and pick up a can of paint stripper. Make sure to wear gloves though, that stuff burns.
 
The brand is Klean Strip. I have the 18oz. Aerosol premium stripper. I used it on my BK14 and it worked great. Well the the stripper and a razor blade. Really comes in handy getting the gunk out of tight corners like plunge lines.
