COLD STEEL GURKHA KUKRI PLUS

Hopefully they'll bring the Gurkha back in SK-5. It was a great steel for these.

Cold Steel has seemingly gotten out of the high quality big knife game. They don't seem to be making any new ones in ANY steel, let alone high carbon tool steel. The Natchez Bowie is gone. The Laredo Bowie is gone. The Trailmaster Bowie is gone. The Recon Scout is gone. The Kukri Plus is gone. The Kukri is gone. I'm sure there are others I have forgotten.

I am aware that they have suggested that a 3V Trailmaster might be coming one day. This sounds nice, but they aren't even producing the knives that are in their official catalog now. Waiting for something that hasn't made the catalog yet seems like an exercise in frustration.

Are these coming back or are they gone for good?
Sorry friend but it appears so. I saw this coming seven years ago, so I bought GK Plus, TM, Recon Scout all in SK5. Monsters that scream, "Go ahead, just try and break me!" I consider the upgrade to A2 was the best move CS had ever made, but for 35% less cost for the SK5s I have I am pleased. My Recon Scout has been the do all at hand. With it I've batoned it through three Winter seasons of hardwoods for the wood stove. That maybe totals one cord of mixed oak, cherry, and madrone from split to kindling. The black coating is worn through to expose bare steel for 4" and there was some dullness and a small nick after all, so off it went to CS in Ventura for their $5 sharpening service. It was returned with a perfect factory edge. Unfortunately, CS slow boat to China is almost to port to receive the containers of Frankenknives. Remember to send a personal thanks to Lynn for surrendering. There's nothing like volunteering to be POW.
