I have a CS Gurkha Kukri, and would like to wrap 550 cord around the Kraton handle. I am somewhat concerned that if the handle would become wet etc...that the cord could trap excess moisture which in return would cause some kind of rot/mildew issues?

wrapping it will make the handle feel a little beefier in my hand, and I thought that maybe it would help keep the Kraton from smoothing out if my hand is not in direct contact with the Kraton...which I have heard some claim after X amount of time goes by.

Has anyone ever cord wrapped a Kraton handle, and what are/were your experiences?

Thanks

I don't think the Kraton will rot or mildew. I have been using my trailmaster with a Kraton handle for 6 years now, not smooth yet.

Hey Madman77, I also have the CS Gurkha Kukri CS39LGK. I just removed my 550 paracord wrap because it had shifted and started to seperate. It was wrapped very tightly too, but I recently came back from a weekend of camping and abused the crap out of the blade thus screwing up the wrap. After removing the paracord I lightly sanded just the checkering on the sides of the handle with fine grit sandpaper making it much more comfortable. It still has the great grip with less abrasion.

wrap it with grip tape or hockey tape.there's no space for water to collect and you still get a great grip.
