Anyone have any experience with a Cold steel hand and a half sword?

Thanks,
Tim

I was very attracted by that one, about 3 years ago. I've got 2 CS swords and my experience (as well as what I've read on different forums) is that they weigh more than they need to ... Over built, one could say. This means that they are good bashers. However, they tend to be harder to fence with.

I did a lot of searching on this model and was lucky enough to find a few threads on the pommel coming loose.... That can cause the blade to fly freely while swinging or on an impact  ..... Generally speaking, not a good thing;)

Take in consideration that my information is about 3 years old. Don't know if that problem has been addressed. I got a Arms & Armor Claymore instead. Had it shortened slightly for better control. It's considerably more $$$ and I wouldn't go testing it on anything other than light targets. A&A make their swords as solid as they were made in the day.... And as good as that was, people didn't use swords to chop down trees :)

Cheers!

my cold steel hand and a half MAA sword is screwed. after a few cuts and tests the handle became loose, i took it apart and realized the screw that was used was way too long to hold it tight so i had to cut shorter the screw. for the 200-280 us dlls, that i belive it is priced, you might get better stuff or maybe just get a few extra buck and get the other vesion. the pics j have seen of the regular version looks t\like the pommel in pinned together unlike the MAA version that is screwed together

`Everything I've looked at about this sword focuses on the hilt being absolute crap. That leads me to believe that it you expect to use the sword, it's going to fail at the pommel.
But no one has ever said anything about the blade itself being bad, other than being too heavy and/or balanced wrong.

I've considered getting the sword and just getting a better hilt done. If the BLADE is as good as CS claims, I can just get a better craftsman to assemble a quality hilt.

any word on this?

sadly, this isn't the case, the MAA is constructed identically to the original, just with different materials.
