Cold Steel Hawk set screw hole fix.

I filled in the set screw holes in my Cold Steel Hawks, and thought I'd share how I did it.
First, I removed the set screws. After that, I removed the handles, stripped the heads and cold blued them, then put some regular Scotch tape on the outside of the holes. Then I filled in the holes from the inside with JB Weld, and trimmed the excess.
After curing, I sanded the surface of the JB Weld filled holes, and I used a black or grey marker to match the color more closely. Then all that was left to do was re-haft them.
I included pics in the other places I've posted, but it's not as easy to post pics here, so my apologies for the lack of visual material. It's easy to do, and you don't he have to look at the stupid screw or have it chewing up the wooden handle. Hope maybe this will help someone.

You could also back the set screw out and apply thread locker, superglue, ect. Then turn it in til flush with the inside, cut the remaining bit of screw that protrudes flush with the outside and sand to finish, it would color match better and might even blue like the rest of the head if that’s a concern.

I dropped solder into them when i made a couple customized trail hawks

Sounds like an excellent idea, if left satin finish or painted, but if blued or patina it won’t blend, if that’s a concern.
Still a nice simple solution to filling the hole.

Consider using a carbide burr and/or jeweler's files to cut a decorative pattern into the hole before filling then filing flat so that when blued or patinated it creates a decorative element. I've seen it done with brazing before, I believe.

It leaves a little silver dot. Kinda looks cool

The JB Weld is a dark dull grey color. I blue my 'hawks. I just colored it a little with a black permanent marker after it has dried. Haven't had to touch it up since then, and it's been years.
