Cold Steel Hold Out pocket clip

Hi guys,

I have been looking at the Cold Steel Hold Out and rather like the looks of it. I own a few Cold Steels, but one thing I wish could be changed was how aggressive the clip grips and sort of tears up the pocket. The clip on the Hold Out series looks different though, can anyone tell me if it is any gentler on the pocket? Thanks all, I appreciate it.
 
Hey, its not the clip that tears up your pocket, but the G10 scale. Its pretty grippy on the Hold Out - similar to the Lawman or Recon 1. But you can take the clip off and smooth out the G10 with some sandpaper in about 3 minutes, if you have the right torx bit.

Cool, thanks! I have others such as the Recon 1 and the Voyager that are unpleasantly grippy but wasn't sure how easy something like the Voyager would sand down. The Hold Out looks easier to sand down.
 
I received my Hold Out III last week and absolutely love the knife, but the clip is a BEAST. I sanded the very aggressive g10 down underneath it, but that's only half the battle. The clip is incredibly tight/stiff, so you might want to use a vise grip and bend it a little bit to have it go in and out of your pocket with ease. I don't think it has been long enough for the clip to do permanent damage to my pockets yet, but I imagine it would.
 
You can bend the clip, but you have to be very careful and bend it one micron at a time. Better to bend it 10 times to get it right, than overdoing it and having to start over.
 
Both Misanthropia and Powernoodle are correct, and I have nothing to add except to answer your question that, yes, CS's sharply textured G10 will wear a bit
 
I have other (non CS) knives in G10 that are not nearly as aggressively textured, I wish at least some of CS's G10 models were like that. The texture of the Spartan, for example, is much nicer on the pocket, although it is so big I don't really carry it.
 
If you favor foldover, deep-carry clip's, then check with usaknifemaker.com, as their clips will fit the hole pattern, and are constructed from .040" thick titanium. Very good price.:thumbup:
