Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of these katanas?

I have wanted a decent one for a while and thought the CS swords might be worth a look.

Thanks,
John

Cold Steel Swords are made by Huanuo sword company in China. They are high quality swords, but the Cold steel versions are heavier and thicker (due to custom CS specs). I recommend you buy a Huanuo sword directly which are made in an historically accurate weight.

By the way, you should have posted this in the Sword discussion forum.

I bought a warrior series katana, the blade looked like crap (very rough), and they did a horrible job sharpening it. -It is very thick and solid, and the handle is nice.

I sanded, pollished, and sharpened the blade, now it looks pretty nice. One concern is that it is not differentially tempered, and it doesn't seem to hold an edge very well. It gets dull just from taking it in and out of its scabbard. -But I think that it IS very durrable though.

sorry to here your sword was not sharp BryFry. I've been to sword factories and tested many swords. all Cold steels swords preform great. One day myself and two other people (one being LT) cut bamboo for over 6 hours.
Yes the swords may be a little heavier than stantard but I say we are also heavier and stronger than the standard samurai.

Yeah, I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing it, because I do like it. I've taken it out into the woods and chopped some vines and small branches, and it did OK, but there is an area of blade about 5" long towards the tip of the blade that gets very dull just by taking it in/out of the scabbard a few times. Just thought this a bit odd...
