Cold Steel Knife

What is the room's thoughts on the Cold Steel - Pendleton Mini Hunter , with nits VG-1 steel blade. My research is turning up the VG1 has more carbon than AUS8, which i thought to be a decent steel...Let me know? IS this knife full tang?
 
I'd say you could do better for the money, and I'm largely a Cold Steel fan. Again, though, what would you be using the knife for?

VG-1, from what most people say, is a step up from AUS8, just as AUS8 is a step up from 440A. Cold Steel doesn't use the best steels available, but the steels that they do use they seem to do a great job on from a heat treat standpoint. Lots of people say 440A is junk, but the CS knives I have made from 440A have been very nice. They go razor sharp and stay that way long enough for me. Can't say that for other makes that use 440A.

For a hunting knife, buy a Buck Alaskan Vanguard or a Buck Alaskan 110 from Cabela's. Both sport S30V blades and are great for outdoor use. If you can't go above fifty dollars, the CS Pendleton Mini Hunter will do fine, I think.
 
Actually I got the Pendleton Mini Hunter new in the box for 20 bucks, i just wanted a small fixed blade to carry around for everyday use....plus for 20 bucks...why not!

Yes, it is. Have fun with this little fella. I can get the VG-1 on mine pretty sharp, it's a decent knife especially for 20 bucks! :D

I had given one to my GF but have another not being used if anyone is interested [in AUS-8] I always thought it would be good for a kid but really don't know any. I used a AUS-8 Master Hunter for years as my major hunting knife and was very satisfied with that steel.
 
Thats a nice looking small fixed blade that would be great for EDC. For the size of the knife I am sure you would not need anything more than the VG1 steel. I used the VG1 steel in a small voyager and it worked just fine for me. I did not know these knives were out ther, so I might just have to get one of them.

Where did you guys find this knife for $20?!?! I've looked ALLLL over the internet and the cheapest I could find it would be $27 + $10 S&H = $37. Most sites are wanting at least $35, not including S&H.

mete how much would you want for this knife shipped to me in Texas (75067)?
