I've had the knife on the left I've been using in the woods. I still need to redo the tip, and the grind was quickly brought back to the guard for whittling. I've kept thinking about the 1/8 inch thick knives out there.... and wanted to know about what kind of tang these knives have. So one of mine that had a loose handle came out of the safe. I guess I have a rehandle project!

I have an old SRK, the older Carbon V, that I love.

Back when I pulled the plastic handle off it I decided to just use 2 oak blocks and JB weld and make a quick and nasty handle that worked, but was ugly.
I used it for 3-4 years before I decided I liked the blade enough to put a piece of stag on there.
So I put the knife in a padded vise and proceeded to try to knock the JB weld and oak off of the knife with a 1lb and 4lb hammer. The oak split, but the JB weld never did. I eventually got tired and just ground the handle off to start fresh.

That being said. I'm always shocked at how a well prepared handle, with or without pins/rivets, can take abuse when put together properly.
Take your time and make sure everything is clean before you glue that one up and the handle will be the almost indestructible.

BTW, I like your bladeshape mod on the right.

Your modded one looks like a light version of my cs outdoorsman.
Always wondered what the tang was like on the kobun, looks like a good tough and cheap knife but wish they offered it untantoed like yours. I like their aus-8.

I need to refine the point more like the outdoorsman lite for better penetration. The grind was quickly brought back to the guard for whittling. I've used this knife in the woods, keep it on the lbe for easy access in winter. I was wondering about those 1/8 thick mora robusts. This seems (while not scandi grind except for where I ground it at roughly 11 degrees) much like a full tang lightweight good sheath knife for not a lot of cash.
