I got a couple of Cold Steel Konjos during this month's special (two for two hundred bucks). Because of the mirror finish, they're difficult to photograph, but the knife itself is growing on me. It's a beautiful production piece with a fine leather sheath and the knife has a lot of hand work. The San Mai III stainless is okay as it adds to the beauty (though I doubt the functionality). Having a carbon steel center and stainless sides would seem more practical to me than combining two types of stainless steel.

Here are some photos. I'd like to see some photos of the other model if anyone has any. I'm almost sorry I didn't get one of each, but I like tantos.

You can see where the two steels come together near the edge.

I certainly would have bought more San Mai III products over the years if they featured a very high carbon center with the softer stainless outer steels. Combining something like VG-1 with 420-series steel lacks functionality and practicality to me.

Those are nice-looking knives though. I also like the sheath, which is a bit more dressed up in comparison with the plain-Jane leather units that come with the Tanto line.

I agree. Still, for a hundred bucks, there's enough hand work and finishing that make the knife a keeper. It's really difficult to capture the beauty.

Thanks. I keep hoping someone else with Konjos will post here. They come with a perfect edge. I showed my wizened little mother one of mine and she fingered the blade and said she didn't think it was very sharp. I then took a piece of paper and effortlessly stripped it into ribbons using the Konjo blade.
