Just got this machete in the mail, this thing has a really unique design and from videos on ytube can take some real abuse, more then what I would put it through. One problem is the handle,I already wrapped it in paracord and it feels more comfortable just not as much grip to it.Other then adding inner tube to the handle do you guys have any other ideas on how to improve it.

Inner tube seems like the next step, or you could dunk it into some liquid rubber Plasti Dip stuff.

IMO, you haven't even used that knife yet and you already want to add crap to it. What you should do is to go out and use it first to see how the original grip feels in your hands, it may feel fine as-is. You may find that adding to the diameter of the grip can increase hot spots or fatigue to your hands.

I used mine the first time I got it without modding it while having all of the suggested mods bouncing around my head, trying to find a reason to change it. I cut down 12 palm trees with it then cut them up so I could move them and really don't see a reason to mod mine. Couldn't find anything wrong with it...

My magnum had really aggressive checkering so I filed it off and sanded to 220grit, gave a smooth slightly grippy finish that doesn't tear up your hand, worked for me

Absolutely right I haven't used it yet,but just by handling it I can tell that with hard strikes the blisters will by coming, and the handle could be a little thicker for confidence.
For starters two layers of tube should do the trick,and/or some good gloves.

ps. my BK2 scales would be perfect on it.

I have one and I have used it,the hand starts to heat up a little in pinky and pinky side of palm,so I'm with BJ on this one and I'm in the same boat ,what will I do?I thought about the inner-tube approach ??thought about removing handle ,reheating a spot on the tang ,drilling a hole for a pin then installing wood or micarta handles lots of uncharted terr. for me, good thing the knife didn't cost much. But in the interim I will just use gloves

i was thinking about taking the scales off of mine too but its pretty beat up, i think i will get a new one first.

as for the handle, i find it semi-comfortable, it could be a bit bigger though, it would turn 90 degrees in my hand if i wasnt gripping it very hard when i chopped/

It may be a boring option, but all I'd do is just sand down the handle with some 600-grit sandpaper to make it a little less aggressive. :)

The butt has two beaks, one near your pinkie and one near your wrist. My brother didn't like the second one and filed that off and rounded it.
