Another factor in the price difference is the steel used. The LTC is 3/16 thick Carbon V while the machete is 1/8 thick 1055. This means that the machete has nothing close to the toughness, strength, and edge retention of the LTC. That been said, I have one and like it.
keep in mind that it is a kukri shaped machete, not a real kukri. It has the chopping and penetration benefits and advantages of the kukri shape, but lacks the mass and weight necessary to make maximum use of it. It works great for its intended use, which is light chopping and bush/trail work. If you want it for light work, you will be happy with the CS kukri machete, and you can not go wrong at its price. You may want to check the price at wholesalehunter.com. ($14.00)
Personally, I prefer a kukri machete with more toughness and chopping power when I go camping; something that feels and performs somewhat closer to a real kukri but is not too heavy and still performs typical machete tasks. For that I use the Ka-Bar Kukri machete. It is made of 3/16 thick 1085 steel so it is tougher, stronger, and holds a better edge than the CS kukri machete but is more expensive. ($40.00)
