Hello all, which do you perfer? I'd really like to hear from LEO's, EMS, and SAR people. What have you used and what do you like and why?

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Spyderco is the way to go!!

I've carried the Spyderco at work (EMS and Air Medical ) for about seven years total and could not be happier with it. I have looked at the CS several times, and it seems a little large for me to carry. I consider the Spyderco as mandatory equipment for me; just as much as my EMS shears.
PS: Some unsolicited advice...get a yellow or orange handled one-less likely to get stolen!!Anyway, that's my .02 cents worth.

yeah that's about what I figured since it loooks a little lighter and definetly easier to sharpen and of course I'd get the orange one for one thing it's easier to see at night if you were to drop it.

I carry a Spyderco Rescue while at work on the ambulance. Works great, looks easier to sharpen than the Cold Steel version and isn't too expensive if I happen to lose it. I have also tried the Harpy, but didn't work quite as well.

I keep an old-style orange Rescue clipped to the visor in my truck for any emergencies that might warrant it. Can't go wrong with a spydie...

I've had an orange Spydee Rescue Jr. clipped to my crash bag for quite a while now, and no one seems to notice that it could be anyting but a tool for rescue. It felt alot more comfortable in my hands than the CS, and I can actually sharpen the Spyderco, thank you very much.

In my opinion, Cold Steel knives outperform others by a wide margin. Although I am not a rescue personel member, I have had experience with Cold Steel knives and the serration pattern seems to be more effective. Also the serration pattern is easy to sharpen with a Spyderco Sharpmaker.
