So I've got my langets nicely patinated for my Norse Battle Axe project. Problem is I can't find the screws anywhere.

I've done my share of woodwork and carpentry over the years and judging by the looks of the langet screws on my CS War Hammer, I reckon they're a size #2 and about 3/8" long. I don't know the length exactly as I'm unwilling to take them off the War Hammer to measure.

I checked at Lowe's, Home Depot, WalMart, and Tractor Supply and the only #2 sized wood screws I could find were in brass. Fail. #4 is too big. I checked. And brass is too weak.

Anyone know where I can find them in steel or do I need to contact Cold Steel directly?

I know they are dinky screws for my big old thumbs. May have to scrounge through some old ma and pa hardware stores, or maybe you could contact McMaster Carr. They have all kinds of stuffin they way of hardware, just got to find a friend with a catalog.

Other option: Dress up like you are in one of them credit card commercails, walk into the store looking like a viking with an english accent and say "I say where are your langet screws?"

good luck

i have mine off my training hawk as i didn't like the weight so i went and measured the screws for you.

i don't know if this will help you or not but they mic out at .36 long with .153 across the head and .095 across the threads.

Those measurements do help. I checked at the McMaster Carr site and the closest thing I could find were in... brass. Just like everybody else

I sent an email to Cold Steel about it. Hopefully they will just sell me a set of them.

I don't even bother with it anymore, my hft has shrunk so much in the last two months. the eye rides a good half an inch above where it was when it came from the factory.

I have the one from a Trail Hawk that I just modified. If you want it, I'll be more than happy to mail it to you.

Wolf is talking about the langet screws that come with the war hammer not the set screw for the head. The langets are the pieces of metal that protect the haft from other weapons.

Aha. Thanks for the clarification. Well, in any event, I have a left over set screw that I'd be more than happy to mail to anyone who really, really wants one.

I was fortunate when I bought my War Hammer last year that it was an older model which doesn't have the set screw.

I found that if you get the head nice and secure, all flush and mounted right and add the langets... you don't need the set screw. The langets do a good job keeping the head in place.
