OK Bowie fans, listen up! Cold Steel's newest Bowie is the Laredo Bowie. 10 1/2" Carbon V blade with a fully sharpened false edge. Coffin shaped handle is made of an "exotic hardwood" (direct quote from the catalog) and guard and bolster are made of high polished brass. Sheath is a thick leather one, sewn and riveted. Appears to have a frog stud. List price is $399.99.

That's a nice looking Bowie and as much as I like my CS Trailmaster Bowie in stag I think the Fisk/OVB will probably be my last production Bowie.

Good luck with that $400 MSRP.

Clint - I got the scan from the Cold Steel catalog. You must have the Special Projects catalog, as it is also pictured in there too.

Clint - Special Projects is the mail order division of Cold Steel. Basically you buy factory direct and there is a bit of a discount. They also sell non-knife gear like walking sticks and this year they have added a pretty mean looking Battle Mace. Then the regular Cold Steel product line catalog just has pics and specs of the entire CS line. The CS catalog also has CAD renderings of the Night Force and Pro Lite folders whereas the SP catalog has the actual photos of the knives.

Nice looking bowie. Looks like more of a combative bowie than the Trailmaster. How thick is it? About the $400 price tag, it's a Cold Steel, you'll be finding it for $280 online soon enough. Still too rich for my blood for a production bowie, though.

I don't know if you check 1sks.com's "what's new," but they put up a pic and price on 3/9/02. Their price is $249.99.

A step up for Cold Steel, I think. More classy. :)

Looks like a Bagwell Hells Belle rip-off to me, minus the spanish notch and curved guard. If quality is on the same level between the two, I'd pick the Ontario bowie for the extra features but the Cold Steel bowie loses hands-down when you consider their msrp for this knife.

Thumbs down on the price point. Even @ $250.00, I'll go for the Camillus OVB or toss in the extra coins for a custom. Good looking knife, BTW- not knocking it, the price just gets me...

Hmmmm....is that sheath a genuine faux leather? Or does it have an exotic domestic hardwood handle? :D Sorry, but you made that too easy!
