I have always been a fan of the AK 47.
This will be my fist time trying the American Lawman. Can anybody share thoughts on the knife.
Pictures and thoughts of how the choil works out.
I am excited and hope to share more when it arrives.

I love mine comfortable and tough as can be. I carry mine at work (construction) most days I use it constantly. Once I had the take down a wrist size tree once with only what I had on me so I used my lawman and a hammer to baton with the knife had some spine dents but still works great without blade play.

The lawman is one of my favorite Cold Steel knives. The choil works great for things like carving, feather sticking, notching etc. Super comfortable in hand to boot! (I wear med sized gloves)

I've always wanted to pick one up, myself. Not sure why I haven't yet. AFIAK, it was the first production knife to feature Demko's Tri-Ad lock. That alone is a good reason to get one.

I never realized what a great looking design the lawman is. The choil really adds what I need without skimping on a thick tough blade. I also see that the hollow grind cuts wood like a demon.
The tri ad lock is my favorite lock on the market for being safe and really difficult to unlock by accident. It is a pure genius design how much steel is in that lock bar and totally allows for adjustment and no blade play.

I really like this knife. I bought the Recon instead, but only because I got it at such a great price. Otherwise, the Lawman would have been my hands down choice.

Waiting for them to stick some XHP in this design.

Me too! Why in the world Cold Steel did a special run of Tanto Recon 1 knives in that steel instead of the more practical Lawman is beyond my comprehension. The Lawman in CTS-XHP or some high end steel is my dream knife.

The Tanto Recon 1 is one of their most popular knives, so it makes sense to me that it was used as an introductory model with the XHP blades. They also made a very small batch of the 2015 AK-47s in that same blade steel. Does that tell you anything?

Would love an un-coated Lawman in any steel (I know I could do it myself, but just don't need the hassle).

yeah .. uncoated lawman and ak47 would be an interesting option .. so many people removed them and are having lots of fun

Bumping just to say: Ya bastids! :D I ran back across this thread last night, and it inspired me to finally order a Lawman. Should be here next week. :D:thumbup:

best knife ever. wonder if they could use the spear point code 4 blade shape for the xhp model. that swedge is gonna make the tip much stronger.

I just purchased the Recon 1 Clip Point in CTS-XHP directly from Cold Steel. I really like the Cold Steel Recon 1, but I greatly favor the American Lawman for EDC use and really all-round use. I have said this before (years ago). That I truly believe if the American Lawman were to have an upgraded steel over the AUS8a (see comment below), that it would become one of the greatest production knives of all time. The hype and favor alone would reach Spyderco Paramilitary 2 and Chris Reeve Sebenza status. I truly think the design of the American Lawman is probably the greatest in production knife history. The lock, blade shape, choil and ergos are FANTASTIC.

For me, the blade steel is what keeps me from carrying the Lawman everyday. While Cold Steels AUS8a heat treat is the best it can be on that steel and it can take a razor edge with no effort, it just does not keep its edge long enough for me. I can dull the blade within 1 session of cardboard cutting. While I don't mind running my knife through a sharpening sesssion, I just do not want to do it daily or walk out the front door worrying if my knife is sharp enough. Again, I am not knocking Cold Steel at all. In fact they are probably one of the most underated knife companys currently. I just wish the Lawman would have an updated steel like CTS-XHP or S30v. The day that happens is the day I will no doubt carry a Cold Steel Lawman as my one and only knife for the rest of my life. And I would sell almost every knife I own to get at least 5 of them.
