just bought one of these dam big folder, what happen to cold steel back in the day
you could get any one of there blades and it was scary sharp? now what a joke
I have butter knifes that have a better edge, very disappointed!!

The lackluster edge seems to be a common complaint in reviews I've read. Disappointing for sure but easily remedied. More important, what's the tip on your blade like? Does it lie below the level of the handle when closed, or does it stick up where you can catch your finger on it?

:) Return it or have it sharpened if you can't .

I've never had a knife arrive less than VERY sharp from CS and that's what I expect .

I'd return just on principle unless I got a huge discount .

I bought 2 of each size and all were very sharp.
no mine does sit below the handle, can I ask I what do you most of you consider sharp?? paper cutting sharp?
or hair shaving sharp?? mine will not cut paper let alone hair shaving??

I expect anything with a factory edge straight out of the box to be able to shave hair off my forearm. Not hair-whittling sharp or hair-popping sharp, that's expecting a bit too much and more than I need anyways. Most of my new purchases over the years have been Cold Steel, Benchmade, and Spyderco, and they have all hit that mark. I, too, would be concerned on getting a dull blade, because it is not up to Cold Steel's usual standards. If it slipped the QC on being sharp, where else did it fail? When I buy a new car I expect to drive it off the lot, not pull out my tool bag. When I buy a new knife, it should be sharp.

it happens from all brands. I know as I collect lots of cutlery from every brand over a long time and occasionally ya get a not real sharp or even dull one. also sometimes with bad burrs that need to be knocked off. most often you get poorly done uneven across the entire edge bevels that make resharpening tricky without reprofiling. this applies to many brands, not picking only on cold steel.

having said all that I've gotten very sharp to somewhat sharp from cold steel in fixed and folders over the years. in machetes ive gotten very dull and terrible burrs. they are cost effective by design so to be expected to put my own edge on it.

the medium luzon I got from the first batch with the tip proud of the scales issue...was leaning towards somewhat sharp. I had to touch it up. easy though as 8cr13mov is very easy to touch up and reprofile compared to say d2.

Has to cut phone book paper cleanly to be sharp in my book, which will easily shave hair.

Just picked up a large Luzon this week. It's sharp and the tip of the blade is inside the handle. It's a great knife, especially at the price. If I was going to bicker I would wish the handle came in some kind of green color as the segmented looking handle is supposed to represent a bamboo stalk according to Lynn Thompson. It's so affordable that if CS does eventually bring out a colored handle I'll buy that one as well.

My medium Luzon was pretty sharp, it sliced paper well.

Since this is the first time dealing with this factory in China there are bound to be some issues ex: proud tips on first run.

For the most part CS is decent on factory edges, all my XHP models were extremely sharp and had even grinds.
I just wished they would sharpen the knife all the way to the heel.

I am pretty sure they do this so less people will get cut when closing the blade but I still don’t like it.

Don't have one but watched a couple reviews.
I don't like how the lock access cutout is uncomfortable to grip so the hand must shift rearward when gripping the knife. Maybe it could be modded.
