Anyone else picking this up? Only have seen it at the dealer that does crazy discounts named like a famous Pacific WWII battle. Version Id is CS-27BSF

Reasonably priced I would say. Certainly not the markup of a new/le (without discounts)

It's cool that they're offering this , but too much price differential for me , for just a handle upgrade .

Price is reasonable for what it is , for a collector .

I do like those CF handles quite a lot, but I also think the price tag is more than I will swallow for just a handle change. It would also be even better in a satin finish version IMO.

Yea I just ordered one. Should be at my place when I get back from Hawaii.

Gotta agree. I pick the Recon 1 when I want I knife that is up to the job where I simply don't give a crap about anything being "upgraded*. It's one of those knives that when I am honest with myself, I probably don't need to carry anything else.

The CF is cool, but it doesn't gel with my philosophy of use.

Well I got mine today. Credit to the dealer and USPS; ordered Saturday, shipped Saturday, arrived today across country.

It's every bit the Taiwan quality you'd expect. I bought it thinking maybe it'd be a bit lighter, just for a change. I also don't own a S35vn one, and spear point is my fave, so I went for it. Ultimately it was the same price I paid for the Italian one, and that one is trash. Feels like a good price given that (yes, I'm just rationalizing the purchase :p ).

As soon as I got it in hand I could tell it was lighter, so I threw it on a scale. Yep!

Scales are NOT textured. The CF is hideous (IMO). Still happy with it so far!

I wish I could throw the MC blade in the CF handle for a good summer shorts knife~ less texture would make it nicer getting out in of the pocket, the CF is lighter so would carry a bit better in lighter elastic waist shorts, and the extra corrosion resistance would be ideal.

Anyway enough blathering. I took comparison photos for anyone looking for real life shots.

Weights

Italian is 5.7 (and clip point is probably a bit lighter of a blade than spear(?))

Taiwan XHP is slightly lower at 5.4

And CF shaves off a full 10% of that weight to come in at 4.9

Is it a miraculous difference? Nah. It is noticeable though.

Is there some reason you couldn't ? 🤔

I'll trade you . ;) I think they're pretty groovy . 🕺

Slippery could be a problem for some uses , but handle shape really helps the grip .
Yeah they don't quite match up. I tried to swap the MC into the XHP one since I had the lock bar breaking problem, but they aren't quite close enough.

while I still dont want to pay the premium for one, I think its a good lookin knife scale wise. coated blade dont bother me. but I'd prefer itd be uncoated also.......
