Hey all, thought I'd give an update to my experience with using the Cold Steel Long Hunter.......
The knife has earned more and more respect as I use it and carry it here in Colorado mountain country. I've found that the full flat grind cuts as well as my Mora and the Krupp steel seems to hold an edge well too. What I like most is that the entire knife and sheath only weigh roughly 6 and 1/2 ounces which is super light for a 7" blade with a sheath.
As for durability, the blade is as thick as a Cold Steel Bushman and the Krupp steel seems really tough. I've batoned the knife through some logs and knotted wood and it was still able to cut paper afterwards. I've also used it to clean fish on hiking\camping trips and it performs excellent. Food prep with this knife needs no explanation because it rocks!
All in all just an excellent lightweight full sized fixed blade that's light enough to carry into the backcountry yet has 90% of the capability of the big heavy survival knives, all for just $12.50
