I have always considered the CS knives the sharpest out of the Box of any knife I have ever had including some customs.

Along comes the BK&T line, specifically, the two that I just got; Brute and Campanion. Both came as sharp and maybe a little sharper than the best CS's I have ever had and they are better knives all the way around. No Rubber fitted handles, full tang bolted slabs instead. Gotta love it. I hope you bring more styles out in this line.

When is the Matchax comming out by the way?

Keep up the good work

Between a carbon steel CS Trailmaster and a BK&T, the main differences are blade shape and handle style - what works best for your hands and your style of cutting. Whatever you're cutting will have trouble telling the difference between the steel.

I'm kinda excited about the Magnum Camp. Seems like a great all around big knife, with a bit less material to carry around.

Another nice thing about these knives is that, with the bolted on handles, they seem to cry out for us to customize them. I expect to see pics in here eventually, of Beckers with all sorts of different handle materials.
BTW, isn't the Magnum due out pretty soon ?

Um ... according to rumor, all the "Carbon V" CS knives are currently made by Camillus.

Some of us are guessing the steel CS is currently using their trade name "Carbon V" for is the same stuff used in the BK&T line, too.

"Carbon V" knives have been made of different steels by different manufacturers in the past, of course, and may be again sometime, who knows ... CS doesn't say who makes the knives they sell or what steel they're made of. Camillus will neither confirm nor deny any rumors about knives they make for resale under other names so don't expect any of the Camillus people to post in this thread ... they'll just read it and smirk, I expect....

In a past thread Camillus has already made a statement concerning the question as to whether or not they were/ are making blades for CS. I believe it was negative.

I think the statement was more like "Don't ask, don't tell," concerning OEM arrangements between companies. End users may look for similarities and make their own educated guesses.

And listen to rumours from usually reliable sources ... such as ... just pulling a name out of the hat at random ... Mike Turber, for instance....

Oh great.... there goes next summers vacation of touring the Cold Steel Knife Factory

I guess I'll have to re-schedule the Smith & Wesson Knife Factory Tour.

Not that there's anything wrong with designing a good knife and farming out the making of it to a company that already has plant and equipment. A lot of very good knives are made that way, and there would be a lot less variety in the knife market without OEM work.

I suppose ... but on the other hand, if there's nothing wrong with it ... why all the secrecy?

Maybe there isn't any reason for all the secrecy ... maybe keeping it secret is just stupid. I for one get interested in some knives that I never considered looking at until I heard a rumor they were made by Camillus.

Would Cold Steel's sales go all to heck if they told everybody who makes every knife they sell and what steel they make it out of? Or would their sales go up?

I guess there's only way to find out for sure ... and Cold Steel isn't going to try it....

P.S. As long as I'm throwing out rumors ... I heard a rumor that United Cutlery is now having carbon steel knives made by Camillus. According to the rumor all their carbon steel knives ... until I heard that I wasn't aware UC sold anything but 420-J2 age-hardened cheese....
