So, as I've mentioned before, I tend to order a big batch of blades every 2 weeks, and I just placed this week's order. Only 1 Cold Steel this time(Bowie Bushman), but next paycheck, I'm looking at probably picking up a few Cold Steel machetes from Baryonyx(special grade is just too good to pass up), but here's the thing, I'm not sure what I'm gonna get. If he gets them in, the Royal Kukri is a definite, but I'm still gonna pick up between 2-4 others, so, tell me what you would pick, and if you like, throw in some pictures or recount some stories of your usage of these blades! These are the options:

Kukri Machete(Royal is definite if he gets it, but the original is on my list too)
Magnum Kukri
Bolo Machete
Panga Machete
Bowie Machete
Special Forces Shovel

Tell me what would you guys pick out of the above list(up to 4 choices from those 6), and show some pictures if you like as well.

I only have one item from the list and I'm also in downsize mode. My home and mind are cluttered with too many blades. I keep reaching for the same blades, while others set unused. With that said, I'd pick a machete (whichever floats your boat) if you don't already have a good one, and the shovel. The shovel is a great bargain. It's niether a great shovel or chopper, but at around $20, it does well enough at both to make it a handy tool for the truck or garage. Mine comes in really handy in the flower/weed beds. Roots from bushes stop most shovels dead in their tracks, but the little CS shovel cuts through them without much effort and isn't five feet long, so I can use it on my knees. It's one of those "compromise" tools that's cheap enough to make sense. Good luck.

The Bolo Machete is probably my favorite and the one I use the most. The 1055 steel is a little soft, but very tough; it's not a machete that will break on you, although like I probably ground the edge too thin on mine, got some edge rolls chopping coconuts.

I really like the shape of the Bolo Machete and it's a great performer.

I have a kukri machete and a shovel, I like them both. I wish I had known about the funky grind on the kukri before I had bought it, 42b will fix that with the special grade option.

Oh, actually, I collect machetes, lol. Lotta people collect folders(I do too), but I really like big blades, camp knives, machetes, that kinda stuff even more(hell, even a lot of the folders I collect are the big CS folders). I have over a dozen Condors(and even this week's order with the Bowie Bushman also includes a special grade Condor Crocodilian), at least half a dozen Aranyiks, several Cold Steels(Jungle, Kopis, 2013 Barong, 2h Kukri, and All Terrain Chopper)...just looking to expand the collection, and just curious what people like(or dislike) about the various models I don't have(I know, there are other models I don't have either like the gladius, but I'm doing a bulk Baryonyx order so I'm only picking from stuff he carries). So far the shovel seems to be a pretty popular choice(3 out of 4 replies mention it), and since it does fill a niche I don't really have anything to fill already, I'm definitely leaning towards that as one of my options.

John,

Are there flowers in Texas?!?

For a couple of weeks a year around Easter:) Today we're going on day 15 (IIRC) of 100+ temps. It's actually been like 104/105, so if any were lingering, they're goners now. Funny thing is, there is one large bush called Esparanza (Hope) and it produces large bright yellow flowers during the summer. The hotter the better. No rain, blistering heat, and my Esparanza grows like it's on steroids. It's like superman getting power from the yellow sun.

Well, I got word that the Royal Kukri SHOULD be up and available next week, so after some time to think and decide, and with input from you folks, I have decided to go with the Royal Kukri(like I said, this was a definite), the shovel, and the bolo, all special grade. Assuming the Royal Kukri is in the price range I expect it to be, with shipping, this should come out to around $100, which was kinda the point I was aiming for...if the Royal Kukri turns out to be less than I expected, I may throw in another Mora to keep it around the same range.

Shovel. No questions, a very useful tool around the yard and camp. The kukri machete I have, and the two-handed model, are absolute chopping machines.
