I picked this CS Trail Master (Taiwan made) up today.

I know they have been around for a good while but I've never seen one with a wood handle outside of a custom job. The wood looks to be cherry. Sort of plain looking but I like it.

I asked the guy I got it from and he said it was that way when he got it but that he got it used.

Did any of TMs come from the factory with a pinned wood handle? It kinda looks like the handle the Laredo has but the wood goes all the way to the guard.

That did not come from Cold Steel with that handle. It is definately an aftermarket mod.

And, from what I can see, did a good job at it. I like it.

It appealed to me too. I like the look/feel of oil finished wood over plastic/rubber any day though I'm sure the latter is more functional.

I only gave $35.00 for it so it's all good. :)

That's a ridiculously good price...like, so good that I'd seriously wonder if it was maybe a knockoff or fake.

I got it at a yard sale so it's not like I got it at some show's chi-com knock off table. He had several other "name brand" knives priced about the same that I had no interest in. A couple Bucks and other such hunting knives.

Given the blade's markings I've no reason to suspect it's a fake. I suspect it's more like someone just wanted a nicer handle.

I also got a pretty darn nice M1889 Prussian officer's sword from the guy for $5.00 and I know it's legit. Easy a $400.00+ sword.
