Price Reduced---New In Box Cold Steel Magnum Tanto IX; 14 5/8" overall, 9" San Mai III Laminated Steel Tanto blade with differential tempering and top quality construction. Black checkered Kraton handle with stainless tsuba style guard and pommel. Black leather belt sheath.

San Mai III provides a superior blade with hard (higher carbon) steel in the middle for a keen, long lasting edge and tough (lower carbon) steel on the sides for flexibility. If you look at the second picture you can see the temper line.

Few other Tanto’s can approach its strength, cutting power or finish. This is as good as it gets! Price Reduced SOLD shipping/tracking included anywhere in US. Please email with questions or comments. Thanks for looking.

The pictures don't do the knife justice. It is a beautiful knife with an extremely tough 3-layer steel blade. Thanks for looking.

Great deal on a large tanto, Cold Steel's bread and butter, well under MSRP. Thanks.

Not just under MSRP but you won't find one at a better price anywhere. Speaking of bread-and-butter, Happy Thanksgiving all.

Great knife and sharp as hell. I have a tanto folder with this same steel circa 1991 or so. If only Christmas weren't looming...!

I think what you are calling the temper line is actually the laminate line where the San Mai changes from the core steel to the edge steel.

FWIW

Hey guys,

Svashtar; it is indeed a sharp knife, I've had one on my fishing boat since '96 and it has needed to be sharpened once and took an edge with four passes on a stone. Not only that, it shows no signs of rust at all.

Muzzleup; you are very right, I was only quoting from the literature I got from Cold Steel (or the knife shop) back in '98 when I pick up this particular knife. It is not a true hamon or temper line as you say, probably just described that way because of the style of knife. Good catch though.

I also appreciate the bumps, thanks.
