Cold Steel Manufacturers

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to get this question answered dozens of times, to no avail. Where does Cold Steel manufacture their spears? Specifically the "European MAA spear" and the "Lance Point MAA" spear? I'm looking for a location, ideally a company name; someone to talk to that isn't Cold Steel in other words. They have been extremely unhelpful and very vague about where their products are made, which worries me.

"It's manufactured in China" doesn't tell me anything.

The reason I ask is because my son has a few odd allergies to glues, and I'm not certain if I should let him handle Cold Steel spears, as I have not yet contacted the manufacturer to ask what is in their glues.

Wal-Mart, Medieval Collectibles, Cold Steel themselves, and Dark Knight Armory all had the same answer: "It's made in China". No number to call, no address to look up, just a vague, 'it's made somewhere in a massive country', wish-wash answer.

Can anyone help me? I would truly appreciate it.

Regards,

It is not a surprise that they're being vague. That's not information that they're required to give out. Who made those products? Cold Steel makes those products. If you have an issue with a Cold Steel product, who will you contact for assistance? Cold Steel, or some manufacturing facility in China (or Taiwan)?

If it is a Cold Steel product they are responsible for anything connected to it. Which factory they have manufacture the product in China is not relevant. Even if you managed to get the name and address of the factory in Yiangjiang China, I doubt you would ever get the information that you want from them.
Get your doctor to write a letter explaining what possible glues may pose an allergic problem to your son, then get your lawyer to write CS a letter requesting CS' assurance that those glues aren't used. They will realize that failure to respond could leave them with a legal liability. If you don't have a lawyer, send the letter yourself, certified return receipt.

The Spear heads are actually made in our forge in India. The shafts are made from American Ash.
There are no glues or adhesives used in the manufacturing process. The blades may ship oiled, but that is Petroleum Jelly.
If you have any further queries or concerns please call our team right here in Ventura, CA. They will be able to advise further.

Thanks

You could also contact one of the knife makers on this forum and have a spear made for your son. It will most assuredly be more expensive than the Cold Steel spear but you will be supporting a knife/ spear maker and you will be 100% sure that it is glue free. I wish you the best of luck in finding a spear for your son.

Well OP got a definitive answer straught from Cold Steel. No glues or adhesives are used.

I'm about 99% sure that CS contracts all of their Indian-made items through Windlass Steelcrafts, though they're made to a higher standard than the bulk of that company's products. At the bare minimum I know that a lot of their swords are made by them.
