Cold Steel Master Hunter 3V or alternative?

I am about to pull the trigger on a Cold Steel Master Hunter in 3V. It looks like a solid performer and a decent price ($135 plus tax). Will be using it as a hunting knife. Any alternatives with same or similar steel and size blade (4.5 inches) to consider? Or, should I just order the Cold Steel Master Hunter 3V?

Here is some stuff from the past .
I show my Pendleton Hunter here (= shorter than the Master Hunter ) but I have the Master and reground it thinner as well . With 3V it can take thinner unless you do what the guys are doing in the vids.
No really get it ground thinner .
3V showing it's stuff . . .

I agree with all of the above- it is a truly great design for hunting/outdoors. You can find nicer/prettier knives, but it is just a perfect hunting knife that is big enough to tackle bigger stuff, but small enough with a great blade shape to dress/skin pretty much anything. The handle is great for blood/wet, and easy to wash off. Can’t go wrong with choosing it, imo.

It’s unfortunate that they don’t currently make a Master Hunter with a distally tapered blade. Some of the Carbon V versions had it, as did the DLC coated Taiwanese and stonewashed Italian versions.

They simply cut better due to the taper, I really wish they didn’t go back to the full length thickness with the current iteration. That said, I once had a Carbon V with the thick type blade that was thinned out quite a bit, and it soared to though wood like a lightsaber.

For hunting though, and most other tasks, the distally tapered ones are even better. I’ve had close to 2 dozen of them over the years, of all iterations other than gut hook.

I'd like to see a pic of that.
