Cold Steel Master Hunter in VG-1 San Mai vs. Carbon V

I can't seem to find it in Carbon V anymore. Whats wrong with San Mai? Does anyone like it?

Whats wrong with San Mai Trailmaster? PRICE!!!!!! lol. For what those things list for and even what they are discounted to, i don't think I would want a molded on kraton handle. As a hack maker of bowies myself, my other problem with them is their weight. A 9 1/2 carbon steel bowie with what is actually a fairly narrow blade does not need to be made out of full thickness 3/8 stock unless you plan to taper the hell out of the blade.

if your gonna get the san mai you might as well just get a fallkniven f1 Heck of a lot of knife there...laminated for strength and can be found for under 100 bucks.

Ariel makes beautiful San Mai Nessmuks check him out in the makers forum to see if he can make you one Bear. Still like your quilt!

I wanted the MH not a nessmuk I already have one. The F1 seems smaller than the 4" size I was looking for. Thanks on the quilt!

Still, there has to be some CS MH carbon V out there somewhere. I will be ok after I get my RC-4. Just need a fix until then I guess.

:D:D:D Amazing how CS changed to other steels about the same time as Camillus' demise eh?
Want to know where the steel from some of these demised knife companies ends up? Well, I have about 140 pounds of 1 inch 1084 that I thik came from Schrade. (can't remember exactly which knifemaker) Aldo Bruno found a pile of it and the guys at Alabama Damascus got an even larger chunk.......about 40,000 pounds:D
