You have to be careful of tanto blade shapes in general. And I am not just referring to the fact that tanto's are not popular here and are generally poorly designed for utility, so consider that too. The fact is there are many pros and cons for every blade shape, for tantos it is that there is a highly reinforced tip, but cons are that the tip is not in line to where your thumb points and the lack of the belly. HOWEVER you gotta be careful of which tanto you buy, the ones with a clipped point negate the pros while keeping the cons.
The master tanto is the only tanto I have ever owned/used/held that actually did it right, and I love my master tanto... if that is what you are looking for. Well worth the money for a well designed knife (and I usually hate tantos, and I am not a cold steel fanboy either).
If you are looking for a well constructed and designed knife, but realize that it won't be good for utility/camping chores, this is well worth the money
