I have been looking for a Cold Steel Master Tanto, San Mai, stainless guard and pommel, made in Japan for a rather long time now… Unfortunately I saw that I just missed one on ebay this last night… Should have been perfect but it is how it is! I was too late…

Anyway I got the impression that it should be easier to get allowed to invite someones wife for dinner than to persuade them to sell the Tanto I want… Gosh!!:)

Maybe it is just how my wife put it… If it is meant that you shall have one you will get one… Otherwise not!

Happy collecting, knife brothers!

I'm sure you'll locate one, I sold one nib last year to a fellow knife enthusiast here on BF. Their around just keep hunting, as I find that the most fun part of getting a knife, The Hunt! ;) Well and there is finally getting to hold that gem you've longed for....Oh! The Pain Of It All! :D

Thank you for thinking that I will find one... That is just what I needed to hear... :)
Yes, the hunt will continue...

Just make sure it is real, Fleabay doesn't care, I quit informing them years ago due to inaction on their part. I even tried contacting the sellers and it went as you would imagine it would in almost all cases. A weird problem I have run across only a few times is the Kraton feeling sticky(looks fine in the picture and in the hand) due to breaking down maybe. Tried everything to get rid of it to no avail, back in the day you could get it rehandeled for $50. I always ask about it in a message to the seller so I have a history on it just in case. Good luck, patience has always paid off for me.

I think there is a fake one now on ebay... I asked the seller about it in a polite way and the answer was that he didn´t export... I just told him that it was not the question... That the question was if it was original... Then the answer came that he didn´t know... but that he thought it was rather good... Sure!!

I just passed a Tanto a year ago or so here in Sweden... The handle was feeling sticky... He was honest and told me... Do you have any ideá nephron why it can be like that... I mean sticky...
Yes, I will do my best to be patience... Thank you for the advice... I appreciate that!

No idea, it came up a few years back on here with no real determination as to why. Thinking foreign substance, high heat for extended time, stored with something unusual, ???? I tried cleaning one once with various things and got no improvement.

Patience paid off!:)
Just bought a Cold Steel Master Tanto, San Mai, Japan with box from Ireland.
I am really eager until I have it in my hand!

Good for you Stefan!

Nice, did it come with a leprechaun? Kinda cool to see CS Knives all over the planet. Pix please when it arrives.

Mailcall!
Got my Cold Steel Master Tanto today... Frankly speaking, I thought it should take longer from Ireland to Sweden now when we have this Covid19 but it only took around 13 days... So I am very happy...
Interesting that Cold Steel made this Master Tanto in Japan and then it went to Ireland and from Ireland to Sweden... So you must say that it is well-traveled...:)
Here are some pictures of it... I am sorry for the quality of the pictures...

That's the same model I sold but probably should have held onto. It's a great looking knife with a really nice sheath and the box,
Congrats on your score.

Thank you very much for your nice words... I really appreciate it!

Now I am looking for a CS Magnum Tanto XII, Japan made... but I have never seen one for sale so I guess it will be hard...

They come up for sale every now and then but the price....... The XII is a beast, I like the IX though the best.

When it comes to the Magnum Tanto XII made in Japan I guess, I have to open my eyes or maybe I just have been looking in the wrong direction... I haven´t seen any for sale and therefore no price either... Maybe I will be shocked...:)

Its weird, never see one then all of a sudden they(EBay and here for me) come up. I have learned trying to collect the vintage CS Products that patience pays off, I think it took almost 2 years to find my first one then only a few weeks to find a better one. Prices range from $500 to the high $300's, haven't noticed one for a while, just the Taiwan Model(which is pretty much as good a quality as the Japan from what I have seen/read on here). I do love the leather sheaths though, but like the Kraton you gotta make sure of condition before purchase.

nephron nephron , just an fyi that links to live eBay listings is a no-no, since they are not a BF supporting dealer.
