have they got better over the years, I've heard to many stories of them breaking at the guard, and I've seen one, early make, steel looks to hard, brittle. G.

I owned one of the ones that was broken by a subsequent owner. I haven't heard about one being broken lately... of course considering the track record for that and the hand and a half that may be because they aren't selling as many of them I couldn't say.

Exactly--it's hard to tell! I'd guess they fixed it, though. I hope.:foot:

Albion's are much nicer but 5 times the price, but I haven't heard of anyone trying to cut a phone book in half with one either.G.

If it's phone books you plan on cutting I wouldn't necessarily go with the Albion anyway. There are quite a few happy mediums out there, for phone book cutting I think I'd probably look into an Angus Trim of some variety or perhaps Kris Cutlery. The phone books are pretty benign in my area I haven't had to cut one in half yet. :)

Maybe benign, but they freakin' multiply like Tribbles.
Especially during certain times of the year.
Can hardly walk outside the front door without trippin' over the beastys.
