I RECENTLY PICKED UP A KNIFE THAT I THINK IS A COLD STEEL MILITARY CLASSIC. THE THING IS IT HAS NO MARKINGS OF ANY KIND. IT IS A EXELENT KNIFE BUT DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHO MADE ANY WITH NO MARKINGS? It looks like cold steel is not marked.as i cxan see in their latest catlouge.

The COLD STEEL MILITARY CLASSIC is a copy of a Randall 1 knife. It was a famous brand in WWII and has been copied time and time again since then. You may have found a hand made model from a custom bladesmith. New bladesmiths often copy classic designs as a learning step it knife making. Either than or it is an el cheapo foreign clone:rolleyes:

ITS'S A Cold Steel Military Classic IT HAS THE SAME SHEATH AND THE SAME INDIA NORTON STONE ON THE SHEATH. THANKS CHRIS

Chris, I had a military classic sometime ago, and if my memory serves me correctly, "COLD STEEL" was marked on the tang. You never know, Blackjack made the same knife for a while as well, and either manufacturer could have left the knife sterile.

Try contacting Cold Steel, and see if they made any that were not marked. I do not know who to contact about Blackjack, but I am sure someone here does.

Whether Cold Steel or Blackjack, neither acknowledged the original designer, Bo Randall!!

The Cold Steel version had a stainless blade. AUS8A, I believe. I had one of these knives, and was fairly impressed with the fit and finish.

Danbo, was your knife marked by cold steel? Bruce, the Cold Steel is the R1.millitary classic I do belive R1 is for Randall 1. chris

tanto trader, you might be right, but then you might not. Even if true, it is too thin an acknowledgement. I'm not concerned that anyone copies a non-patented design -- happens all the time (if you don't get a patent or trademark, your fault). I just seems unfair that some would not give credit where it was due.
