Cold Steel mini-AK-47 questions

I am thinking about getting a Cold Steel mini AK-47. I have the Mini-Lawman and like it. The AK-47 has no 50/50 choil like the mini Lawman has. It does look like if you are careful you could put your index finger where the choil would be. I compare it to a Spyderco Delica4. The Delica has no choil but you can put your finger where a choil would be. When holding an AK-47 with your index finger where a Choil would be how easy it to get cut by the heel of the edge. I'm not thinking about if my hands slikes forward. IF that were to happen, choil or not, I'm in trouble. :) Also, how does the flat area on the rear of the spine feel when using a lot of downward force to your thumb? I would want to be able to use the mini AK-47 for anything considered hard use for a folder. If it's really hard use I'd use a fixed blade. But the mini-Lawman is a very sturdy folding knife. I don't do much hard work any more (too old, broken down, decrepide, useless,,, you get the picture :)). If I did I might consider the normal AK-47. Not really interested in many COld Steel knives for EDC. But if I did I'd want it to be a smaller one. The majority of Cold Steel's knives have a tactical or "weapon like" look to them. And in FL I think there is a state legal limit of 3". Where I live the cops don't really care what you carry as long as you use some common sense and maturity. Lots of hunting and fishing so you see knives a lot on belts, etc. Any help or opinions on the knife is appreciated. Jack

In FL there is not a 3in limit from what I read, just restrictions on the usual auto and bali. I would check you local laws though and make sure you understand them. For example: Michigan law specifies that a person, with intent to use the knife unlawfully against another, shall not go armed with a knife having a blade over 3 inches in length. But everyone always thinks Michigan has a 3in limit when in truth there is no limit as long as you have lawful intent.

I have the original and new style AK but not the mini. The new style fits in the hand very well but as to the choil question I personally feel the knife becomes uncomfortable in such a grip. I'd say just buy it, if you don't like it you can always sell it.
