Recommendation? Cold Steel Mini AK-47

I picked one of these up (in XHP) and it had vertical blade play. I returned it.
I want to give it another chance. Can anyone comment on this? Is this a common
problem?

I also heard of the blade edge contacting something when closed and buggering up the
edge.

Hmmm, not sure. I bought one awhile back and returned it because it was uncomfortable in my hand. I don't remember any other issues.
 
Out of the many Tri-ad lock CS knives I've had over the years , only recently have I ever had any lock rock / vertical play . Both are XHP with DLC , unlike all of my older ones . I doubt the steel type is a factor but maybe the DLC is ? I don't have a Mini AK-47 but one of my problem knives is it's big brother . The other is the largest Holdout . The AK-47 is fairly new and still being worked in . The lock still has a tendency to lockup too tightly when opened hard and requires excessive force to unlock . When opened gently the lock bar doesn't sink in as far and there is very slight lock rock . Hoping this will eventually self correct . I'm not concerned that the locks are unsafe but I'm unused to ANY lock movement with my other Triad knives in AUS8 .

My best guess is that some bits of DLC gets polished off the contact surfaces of the lock as it works in . I can see that the black is worn off to shiny bare steel in some places . Maybe that gets stuck in the works ? I hope that routine working in and periodic spraying lube will eventually clean out and cure the problem . It doesn't yet worry me enough to want to disassemble the knives or seek warranty service . The knives seem fully functional . But as you say ... I'm very spoiled ! ;)
