For Christmas I am getting a few gift cards to a local knife store. Their prices are pretty high, but I didn't want to ask for cash to use to buy knives online, or at the sporting goods shop on base.

Since their prices are so high, I want to keep my coming purchase to around what I get in the gift cards. I don't want to spend much, if any, extra cash.

So, I need to pick out a good knife around 20-30 bucks. This gives me a good selection of SAKs, but at this store (due to their high prices), not much else.

But one knife did stand out for me. They have the Cold Steel Mini-PAL for 20 bucks. I know this is probably a fairly high price, but again, I need to use the gift cards.

So how good is this knife (err... push dagger)? Is it a pretty sturdy? I know Cold Steel is generally a good brand, but at 20 bucks and being so skinny, I can't help but feel that the Mini-PAL is not worth buying. And being a push dagger I wonder if CS worried much about making it able to cut.

Any input on the Mini-PAL would be appreciated.

I am not into push daggers, but because I don't have one, I would like to add one to my collection for the sake of variety.

All those Cold Steel mini push daggers are interesting. Push daggers are generally illegal just about everywhere, but anything that small, I guess, flies under the radar.

They are strong, not flimsy, and the serrated edges cut very well, especially since grip is no problem. I'd be all over them if they came with plain edges, too.

The only problem is they don't come in the best steel.
