is this a good knife to use as a last ditch self defence weapon i just baught one for 20 bucks and it should be coming soon, so could it be good for sd

the handle is a little small and shorter than optimum (and I do not have large hands). and the steel is 1/8" thick only. But it is a sharp and pointy little tanto sucker, so depends on what you mean by last ditch. it'll stab through flesh and clothes for sure, but it's not the strongest fixed blade out there. takes a shaving sharp edge though....;)

I have one, but haven't used it much. It is disposable insofar as it was inexpensive and it isn't all that strong per the 1/8" comment. It would obviously be better than nothing for self-defense, but I would not put much faith in it (bad grip for my hand, thin steel, etc.). I use it for river type activities and camping (neck knive). Due to the handle length mentioned above, I did some grinding to make it more comfortable (made a semi choil (sp?)). I also filed down the spine edges above the grip to make it more comfortable on my thumb.

I agree with you Scarface. I'm sure you could do better if you looked around, but for the money it's a decent little knife, and would work as a defensive tool in a pinch.

Correction. The thickness is only 1/16". I think a cheap kitchen knife with a longer blade would be a better knife for fighting.

I'm underwhelmed with the minitac. I prefer a nice 5" paring knife when overseas. In the US, I carry a WOO, by Newt Livesay.
