I am interested in purchasing a Cold Steel Moro Barong, I spoke with someone who is very knowledgeable of ancient weaponry, and he said, for the price that CS is charging, I could just get an original Moro Barong, and have something that will go up in value as time goes on. I really have nothing I can use the Moro for, but I want something in fairly decent shape. Also, I am looking at getting some LOTR swords, should I even contemplate the junk made in Pakistan, or should I just save up for the UC swords?

Don't get junk from Pakistan, United Cutlery, or movie swords if what you want is a SWORD. Even as a "wall hanger", because eventually you'll be tempted to take it down and swing it around or god forbid hit something like a cardboard box. Then you get the blade flying out of the hand, the stainless steel blade snapping or shattering, or other random dangerous things. Did you ever see the movie of the TV salesman snapping his cheap UC sword accidentally and stabbing himself? Its that sort of thing. And it almost happened to me a few years ago.

I have several Kris Cutlery blades invluding the Barong and they are very good blades for the money. CAS Iberia has Filipino swords that look nice but I've not handled them.

If you want a real Moro Barong click on the "Sandata" link for Filipino weapons on the Kris Cutlery site to see if they have any. Currently there are no barongs listed but they might get some in from time to time. There might be some listed on auction sites like Ebay but make sure you don't buy a barong Tagalog unless you want a type of Filipino shirt. :D

Barongs are reasonably priced, I got one in 1999 during a trip to Zamboanga for about $119.00. My KC Barong was $120.00 but I did not need a plane ticket to buy it. I just bought it and did not bargian like you are supposed to. A real Kris will be more expensive but they are harder to find. That is a better choice IMO for a collector's blade.
