I'm thinking of buying this knife for EDC, to be a bigger knife. It has a liner lock and I would like to know if it is strong and I also wan't to know how much abuse the knife can take? Will it break easily?

I did some investigating on this knife here and elsewhere. Don't want to bash anyone but look very carefully into this knife before shelling out. Look at what the competition has to offer and make youir choice. Hope this helps.

Eerik, I've owned 2 of them. The Cold Steel Night Force is well built folder made in Taiwan. How much abuse can it take? Will it break easily? That depends on what you plan to do with the knife. Try to pry with it and you'll probably snap the blade. Use it as a cutting tool and you'll find it's a good all around folding knife with a very comfortable handle and solid lockup.

It's Zytel handles have a nice texture and feel, and there are dual steel liners to reinforce it's construction. Overall, I think it's a good design. The clip point blade is 440A which steel snobs look down at, but it's certainly usable. The advantage is that it's relatively easy to maintain and sharpen. I gave one as a gift to my brother-in-law a year ago and the Teflon coated blade looks horrible due all it's scratches from use and sharpening, but he likes it alot and still uses it.

Personally, I'd prefer a satin finish blade over a black Teflon coated one, but that's my own thing. If you need a knife for heavy duty and extensive cutting, I'd recommend a knife with a higher grade steel, but if you plan to carry it and use it for mundane everyday tasks or self-defense, it will do the job. There are better knives in the same price range, but if you really like black stealthy look and the knife's design, I say go for it. We all have our own opinions based on what we like in knives, but what's ultimately important is what YOU like in the knife.

I have to agree with Cosmic Superchunk above. I have one of the plain edge Nightforce knives and it is a great knife as long as you realize the limitations it has. (Basic edge holding and the black teflon finished blade will scratch up real easy if you are not careful.)

The handle fits my hand just right. And I like the wide, clip-point blade style. :D

Thank you from your information. I think I will buy the knife. I don't mind about scratches in the blade because it would come for heavier use. The steel could be better but I think 440 will do for me.
