I found a new {no box] Cold steel ODA at a pawn shop for twenty five dollars. I havent bought it.Ive been looking on line and new they range any where from forty to one hundred fifty dollars. Im guessing it depends what steel it has. By looking at it ,what do I need look for to know what steel it is?Any of you know?

I purchased the knife today for twenty two dollars. Made in China. I dont know if its the krupp steel or the VG1.

In case anyone wants to know. Etched on the blade ,after ODA is TM. I searched for images on Google and only found one with the TM on it. That knife was said to have Krupp 4166 steel.

There was short run of ODA made of AUS-8 at the end of 2008, I'm not sure there is any visual difference between these knives and ones made of 4116.

For what you paid, you're getting a good user regardless of steel. The Krupp steel isn't nearly as bad as some would have you believe. For a lot of people, 'inexpensive' equals 'cheap'. Not true by any means.
