I have had the Cold Steel OSI for about a week now and i love it. I have not gotten the chance to put it through a lot of hard work but i have done just a couple of simple tasks with it and its can just do everything thrown at it with ease. For example i have been cutting through some water bottles to just test the sharpness of the edge and to also have some fun, let me tell you that the edge comes razor sharp, I'm not sure if it has to do with the high quality SAN MAI III or also known as VG-1 but either way it is just scary sharp. I have been able to cut into 5 bottles cleanly with them moving while being cut or any more water spilling out. I mean yes there are some other fixed blade knives that could beat that but with a factory edge there are not that many. But the first thing i did with this knife was shave with it. I wanted to see if i could and if i could if it was clean and let me tell you it was almost as clean as my Boker straight razor. If the blade was not so big and thick i would of been to of gotten a great shave off of it. I don't really have many fixed blades i am more of a folder type of guy but this is overall a great knife to pick up. But back to what the knife is meant for. Cold Steel does NOT say this but this is a knife meant for one thing and one thing only and that is for self defense or combat. You can tell by just the look of the blade that it is meant to cause damage to somebody or something. The sheath that it comes with is a kydex sheath and it is pretty good i mean its not the best i have seen but it gets the job done and then some. It could be classified as a tactical sheath i guess but i think it could be more secure. I can run with it and not have to worry about it moving or even slipping at all but i have done some tests on the lock and it has done good until i hold the the knife and swing it while it is in the sheath, it stays in for a while but then around swing number 8 the sheath just goes flying off. I know it isn't meant to be used like that but cold steel always is bragging about there lock on their kydex so i thought it would of been better. Now onto the grip or handle, it fits me perfect but i have medium to larger hands so if you have a smaller hand this would be kinda if not very awkward to carry and swing. It is a kraton handle but it is a bit more grippy and rough than some of the other kraton handles i have felt before, wich i personally like since you would not want the knife to go flying out of your hand while using it. The thing that made this knife stick out the most was the finger slit or hole that you can use while holding this knife and it just makes the knife look badass and official. Overall i like the knife but i think they could of done a couple extra things since the knife was like $130 but im not gona really complain. I would rate this knife 8.5 out of 10.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for these first impressions of the OSI Chris! Haven't read much about this knife til now. But looking at this wall of text: Could you add some paragraphing, please? It would add a lot to your text and we all would appreciate it. ;)

Thanks for your thoughts. I've never handled the OSI, but I had an ODA in Carbon V. I like the grip on it, but was unsure how I would like the subhilt on the OSI. I like some subhilts, but some I don't really care for and haven't had a chance to handle the OSI to see how it feels. My brother now has the ODA, and I am hoping to get a San Mai III Military Classic. I do have a Trail Master in VG-1 San Mai III and have been really impressed with the San Mai. It came to me scary sharp second hand and I really like how it has held up.
