Can someone tell me if the Cold Steel OSS is a good knife it is made of 420 Sub Zero Quench steel? Or the Ka-Bar Next Generation fighting knife. Which on is better? Thanks

Large fighting knives:
The CS OSS sports a very ergonomical handle and the double-edged blade is very easy to control. It feels very light.
But I'd take a closer look at the Black Bear Classic. Not as inexpensive as the OSS, but the handle is even better - since it's not made of Kraton, it feels noticeably stronger. And the steel is better. 420HC is a small step above 420J2 and the Black Bear's blade is made of AUS-8, which is a decent stainless.

Large utility knives:
The Ka-Bar next generation pieces are decent, but for the money you might also want to take a look at the Swamp Rats.

bought both the R1 military classic and the ODA...

The R1 is a great knife for the money, as is the ODA, but keep in mind that the ODA is about 60$ from a discounter. It is undoubtedly a 60 dollar knife with a very sharp albeit soft blade. The edge does not hold for too long, but is easily sharpened.

The Aus8 steel stays sharp and performs very well for the under 200 price tag. However, if you must stay under a hundred dollars, you should get the SRK which is carbon steel and requires extra care.
