I have been to several PLS and have picked up many of the old "Custom Series" knives at very low prices. Got a Carbon V Stag Handle Trailmaster for $125 (don't expect that those will be out again at the PLS). These days the back table has been picked clean of the old Carbon V and the "Custom" knives but there will always be some deals on Shopworn and Seconds to be had. Some good "discontinued" knives can be had for a song (Black Rock Hunters were going for $25 one year). And you never know, They may have found a box of Carbon V or Customes hiding in the back. Bring Cash and try to Deal with the guys on the back table.

On the down side there are always "deals" to walk away from (some prices will be higher than Online Prices, some higher than "Special Projects" prices). So Go with a price point in mind and don't get caught up in the knife frenzy. If you don't see what you want, ask. And don't be too proud to go early and wait for the open (yes I was first in line one year, it had its rewards).
