Anyone has any experience with the Cold Steel Pendleton Lite Hunter? How does it handle normal camp tasks? Battoning? I don't know if the Field & Stream 2010 "Best of the Best" means anything, but the reviews aren't bad. Looks good, seems well made, and right now is very inexpensive. I'm thinking it could make for a nice back-up or companion knife, and maybe a nice Christmas gift. What do you think?

The ones I got in seem like very solid little knives. Comparable to a Mora, but with a hollow grind and conventional edge rather than a scandi, which could be an advantage to those more accustomed to typical hunting/outdoors knives. The sheath is good stiff nylon with excellent retention. The handle is comfortable in a variety of holds. Hope that helps. :)

The handle looks like it would be a lot slicker than the regular Pendleton hunter, but man, there's a big price differential, isn't there?
I have the grippy regular version and really appreciate the ergos of it. The hollow grind makes it a great slicer.

The handle contours help keep it from being slippery. The way I view handle design is that a well-designed handle should stay securely in the hand even if it's made out of glass and then covered in oil. If a handle relies on texturing to keep it in your hand then there's something wrong. :)

I have a couple as back ups. Great little knife , good slicer and general use knife but not something I'd want to baton big sticks with. Good value for under twenty bucks.

I like the grip it has and never had issues with it slipping because of the handle design.

I have the regular Pendleton hunter and it's pretty nice but I wish the blade was a bit longer. For the price the Lite version is a great deal.

Seems like there are alot of great designs for hunting blades out there made by reputable companies with less expensive stainless steels and molded handles. The Buck Lite MAX and Diamontback Outfitter, the Kershaw Antelope, etc. I might start picking some up for spare bugout bags... there are some nice cheap surplus rucksacks floating around lately.

I have nothing but good things to say about the CS plastic handled krupp steel knives. Not bad edge retention and touch up with just a few strokes. For people without sharpening skills this is an advantage.
Have almost all of them and used them well. Great cheap gifts to outdoor friends without knife sense, no borrowing please.

I have been wanting the regular pendelton , after handling it seems a perfect deer knife.

I have CS Canadian belt knife with same steel,(4116 Krupp Stainless)not really impressed with edge holding, and sharpness, but
Great cheap gifts to outdoor friends without knife sense

The edge retention of the Krupp isn't amazing, but it's no slouch either. I'd put it on par with the edge retention of SAKs. :)
