Looking for someone who has experience with the Cold Steel Pendleton.

Plan on using it for a deer hunting knife, not so much for an EDC or anything like that.

Anyone??

thanks!

Joe

I bought the small pendleton for my 8 year old son.It seems tohold and take an edge very well.We have both used it for cutting wood as well as other things.Hard to beat for the money.

Hi there,
I'm afraid I haven't tried the Pendleton, or many Cold Steels recently. They tend to run a little softer on their stainless steels than a lot of other manufacturers. The AUS-8 knives of theirs that I've tried have all been very easy to get sharp, and hold their edge reasonably well. Would probably be a good knockaround knife.

Sorry I'm not more help, but welcome!! :)

i have a cold steel pendleton. i havent had many cold steel knives although i am pleased with this model. for the most part i've only used folders, the CRKT m-1 lightfoot, the benchmade auto stryker.. and my favorite of the "cheapy knockarounds" is the CRKT edgie, good medium utility knife, (it sharpens itself) anyway, i decided to change to a fixed blade for a while. the pendleton is nice, i did some research and for the price- $40 you cant beat it. holds an edge well and from seeing cold steel's "truth" video i've put it through a few vigorous (sp?) tests.. not a scratch. somthing else i admire about this blade is, its so thick- very tough. hope this helps

I have the mini-Pendleton, which I use for fish gutting and de-heading. It's the best I've used for the job (and I've used quite a few). I'd recommend the knife, but would be be big enought for a deer?

I have both the full-size and the mini. I haven't used the mini much, but I've worked the full-size one quite a bit and I'm very happy with it.

The blade is quite thick, with a high grind - a good setup for a general-use/hunting knife, I think. The blade shape is very practical.

It takes a good edge and keeps it resonably well. Mine's in AUS-8A, but I see they're making them in VG-1 now, I dont know how the new ones perform, steel-wise.

The handle is very comfortable, fits my large-ish hands very well. It's nice to have a full-sized handle on a short-blade knife like that - it gives you lots of control. I like the guard, that along with the handle texture makes it feel very secure in the hand.

The sheath is solid & totally secure without being too tight. The setup is small enough to not be in the way too bad on the belt.

The spine on mine is nice & sharp for sparking ferrocerium rods.

It's a great knife for the money.
