Cold Steel Percieved Quality.

I lost interest in Cold Steel for awhile after getting into higher end blades. The ones I had or sold just "seemed" low quality with bead blasted blades, AUS-8 (even though I have no issue with the steel) and grip material feel. So I bought a new American Lawman...love it. I feel it is just a way better knife than the AUS-8 one in materials and look. So I ended up also replacing some other models that I liked. Today I bought a Spartan. What hit me is Cold Steel just seemed to tweak the overall quality of their blades. Fit and Finish has been perfect in the models I have purchased. Holding the Spatan next to the AUS-8 one I have....it just feels and looks like a better quality knife.

Anyhow...Cold Steel is easily a recommended brand for me. They have something for everyone and not liking them is just a subjective opinion.

Well said, Screwdriver. Quality has never been an issue with me where CS is concerned. As I mentioned somewhere else, per unit, I have far more off-center Spyderco knives than Cold Steel.

Well said, been saying the same thing for a while now, glad to see people not missing out on some great knives because of some funky marketing vids or negative chit chat.

I've got old models and newer models. Solid all.

I am not the biggest fan of their krayton (or which ever material they are calling it now).

I've experienced Resiprine C and it is much more durable.

I have not tried their new offerings in 3v.

I've cycled through Busse and Swamprat for the last 9 or so years, so I've not been buying any of their newer higher end pieces.

bead blasted blades

I really like that blade finish. I don't have any rust problems here in the high desert of Colorado so it is hard for me to understand why people may not care for it. Looks great !

I've had some mostly minor issues with Cold Steel but over all I really like and enjoy the many CS knives I have. From my two Luckys (one has a pretty serious flaw in function; blade edge hits screw) to my Hold Out I.

Good stuff, good steel.

All of mines are solid. Their japan fixed blades are very well done also

I only have 3, but there's nothing about them that would cause me to hesitate in buying another. Even my little Micro Recon is a solid, well made knife. My newest is a Mini Recon that has the upgraded steel and less aggressive G10 which I do greatly prefer over the AUS8 and the G10 of my AK47 I got several years ago.

I'm surprised Cold Steel has discontinued the Mini Recon(and the Mini Lawman.) I like knives in that size range and considered buying both.

Love the "luxury" looks and feel in hand of the Swift

one thing cold steel does better than almost everyone else consistently is no blade play. side to side or up and down without a hard to open knife. maybe due to the tri-ad lock but even the other locks i've owned...... all solid as a rock. fit and finish is always really good for the price points. i also enjoy many of the designs. all together keeps me around and buying and using.

cold steel is definitely on a qc constant improvement route. only wish they include those horrible secure x sheaths and pocket clips.:)

Really wish i could get my hands on a swift, it's practically the only good CS model i havent got in my collection since i'm in Australia and customs would seize it for being assisted. Wish there was a non-assisted variant.

Cold Steel seems to be a pretty good brand. However I really dig their Mega folders. Got 2 so far a Counterpoint XL. In CTS bd1. 6" And a Talwar.large. in AUS 8. The box says five and a half inch but the blade measures out six" Trying to figure out my next mega folder .is going to be. I've been wanting to pull the plug on that seven and a half inch espada. I got heaps of different brands so I don't get bored of them.

That is funny. Their pocket clips on the recon models and voyager models are my favorite!

I love a good solid clip. I've broken other makers clips quickly, but never a CC clip. Also, I like that they box the clip end in handle materrial. Nothing bugs me more than wiggly clips. Oven if my Spiderco is tightened, I can still usually wiggle the clip a bit side to side.

I don't have any sheaths that dull my CS, but I've only got an old KobunNd old safe maker III, and I think they sheaths are not nylon reinforced versions?

My my Trailmaster had the black nylon sheath.

This is nothing buddy. You should have been around 6-7 years ago. There was raw disrespect back then toward C.S. Defenders felt isolated. I transitioned through various manufacturers. I started with Kershaw I believe many years ago, then went becker, ESEE, etc. and ended up favouring Cold Steel, primarily. I remember waiting what seemed like a year when C.S. refused the shipments of new version Voyagers, I believe if memory serves, due to quality control demands. That should tell us something right there, that C.S. refuses to send out junk. I know that any/every company has a few bad pieces through, just the law of numbers really. But personally, I have never had a bum C.S. product.
